Tortdog:

Well, here's why I differ on race. I think we should be race blind. To pick someone because of their race, to me, is irrational, misguided, and inappropriate. (I could come up with some more words.)

I think you misunderstood what I am saying. I am NOT saying we should pick someone because of their race, I do not agree with that at all. I am just saying it would be nice to have a more "variety" of races, that's all.

Church The President The Lamanite Can

From Elder Russel M Nelson's
The Exodus repeated

QUOTE

The lineage of Joseph, through Ephraim and Manasseh, is the seed appointed to lead in the gathering of Israel.

We see that Manasseh has an important part in the leading of the gathering of Israel

From
"Who and Where Are the Lamanites?"
Lane Johnson explains that lehi, the father of the lamanites was of Manasseh

QUOTE

we know that Lehi was of the tribe of Manasseh

I believe that the "times of the Gentiles" are coming to an end and the importance of the Tribe of Menasseh in leading the Church will become more and more apparent. The work has definitely been very productive in South America.

I believe we will see in our lifetimes a few Apostles that are "Lamanite" and possibly a prophet from the line of Menasseh.

That would be so cool to see a lamanite be the prophet. I wonder how the members would take to that though?

Why would they take it in a particular way or are you insinuating something? Please expand, thanks. smile.gif

Can A Lamanite Be The President Of The Church?

QUOTE
3. What brought up this question?
The reason I asked this question is because the Topic arouse during an Elders Quorum Class, I have no idea how it started, but it made me wonder:
-Why will a Member think that a Lamanite can't be the President of The Church?
And not only that, why would anyone think that Race determines a position in the Church?
So far, all of you agree that race does not determine position in the Church and I agree with it. smile.gif

The tribe of Ephraim is given the "primary responsibility" to lead the Church in the latter days.

QUOTE
Many Latter-day Saints are of the tribe of Ephraim, the tribe given the primary responsibility to lead the latter-day work of the Lord.

Principles of the Gospel, p. 154-55. Thus I still doubt that this would happen.
