I don't understand the big deal at all about the name of this bomb, it sounds funny to me. Yes, it is bigger than the Mother of all bombs, so what? Can't the US accept it or what? *smile* It's just a name meant to show off!

I guess the big deal here LDS is that a non nuclear bomb is one that can and will be used. So what Russia did was slap the States in the face with the royal gauntlet just like bobnbrittw stated. They have issued the challenge and insulted the states in one bomb.

Question now to be answered is will the States build one more powerful and who either nuts enough to use it or do they demonstrate on a country such as Iraq to prove they are not just bluffing about its power.

The cold wars are back on, Canada will see jet in the north again and I am sure many with the USA flag on them. I am sure this will do nothing to help the world economy but we can guarantee oil price will soar.

How can it be considered an "insult"? They just created a BIGGER and more POWERFUL bomb than the US did, so what is the big deal really? Is it the US only the ones entitled to create the "best" or the "bigger"? It seems childish to me to think it was an insult really.

Vincenzo I almost fell out of my chair at your reply! But you sure nailed it. I think George Carlin did a skit on it and he basically referred to the male inferiority complex related to the shape of all missiles. LDS I wish I could say different but it is like two boys that never matured, one upmanship is all it is about.

I wouldn't exactly call it an insult more so a questioning of manhood. It is a huge testosterone festival. Our scientist are better than yours. Oh yeah...we can make a bomb this big! Shhh...that isn't big...check this one out. Sure that is an OK bomb, but this one can destroy 3 more city blocks than yours. Hey...we just improved ours...it can actually break the eardrums of everyone within 4 city blocks of it and give coronary heartattacks to the other 10blocks within the radius of the blast...etc!

Building anything requires money... when you don't have too much dinero to share you build an unconventional grenade, that's what they do in Afghanistan. When you have a little more money you might get something a little bigger and call it the "great grand son of all bombs". Maybe if you have competitors they may call theirs "the third cousin once removed of all bombs". Now we have Russia... they are getting a whole load of money now and they aren't afraid to spend it, after all... they do not have the kind of checks and balances other countries have to answer to.So if they want to make a bomb called "your daddy is packing this" then they can - its all a question of who wants to spend more.
