Hillary Clinton Leads Barack Obama in Delegates, John McCain Heads Republicans
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- With some states still tabulating votes and delegate totals, the early analysis from the voting on Super Tuesday shows Hillary Clinton ahead of Barack Obama in the delegate counts. On the Republican side, John McCain leads Republican candidates Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney. Neither of the pro-abortion Democratic candidates could claim a clear victory from Tuesday nights' primary and caucus contests. A CNN tabulation of delegates put the race at 689 for Clinton and 582 for Obama with John Edwards controlling 26 delegates and the political web site Real Clear Politics has Clinton leading by a closer 764 to 716 margin. Looking at Republicans, McCain vaulted into the lead as a result of capturing the winner-take-all states such as New York and Missouri. He holds a sizable lead no matter which media outlet counts the delegate totals. AP has McCain at 522 delegates of the 1,191 needed for the Republican nomination. It put Romney in second with 223 delegates and Huckabee in third with 142.

Neither one a good choice. This will be a difficult time for the U.S.
If people thought GW was bad, wait until Hill & Bill or McCain take over the White House. There are worse things to come.

President Bush Says November Election Battle About Abortion, Judges Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- President Bush spoke to the Conservative Political Action Conference on Friday morning and laid out what the presidential election battle will look like this year. He portrayed the fight as one between a candidate who opposes abortion and one of two Democrats who support unlimited abortions at taxpayer expense. "On matters relating to America's moral compass, we have defended human life," President Bush explained. "There's another philosophy, and it's advanced by decent people who see the world differently." "On the rights of the unborn -- the most vulnerable among us -- one side supports abortion on demand," the president said. "You and I believe in the worth of every human being, the matchless joy of adoption, and the right to life." President Bush also said the election battle this year involves a fight over the kind of judges a president will put on the Supreme Court. "On the federal judiciary, one side says we should confirm judges who believe in the 'living Constitution' -- which basically means they can make up laws as they go along," Bush said. "I say we need judges who respect our values, do not follow the political winds and revere the plain meaning of our Constitution," Bush added. "We need more judges like John Roberts and Sam Alito."

The Democratic Nominee is far from being decided. Texas will be very important. We wont even mention Florida and Michigan. Those are 2 very stocked delegate states that were not counted because of primary timing issues, but were both won by Hillary. If Obama keeps up his 60/40 split of the remaining delegates, I believe he will have enough to get the nomination. If not, it goes into the democratic convention undetermined and they will "broker" a deal between the 2 of them. Basically, they will all get behind closed doors and wheel and deal a decision. If it comes down to that...Hillary is savvy enough to run circles around Obama. If Obama takes Texas and Pennsylvannia (60/40), that is going to to make it really hard on Hillary to overcome...all politics aside.

While there is a ton of media love for Obama, there is a quiet group of voters out there that just will not vote for a black candidate. I am pretty sure that there is no poll to accurately determine how large of a true voting block it is...

There is a interesting site that describes the delegate allocation. Notice how many delegates are alloted that have nothing to do with the popular vote. Feels kind of elitist actually. As close as this is, there is still a chance that neither Obama or Clinton will have enough delegates to capture the nomination prior to the convention. The last brokered convention was a little over 70 years ago...

Rather off topic, but... Why do you think that *nothing* changed in our government after the last big election where the democrats made a lot of noise about "taking control" of Congress? Because they are keeping to the status quo demanded by the corporate elitists who run the government behind the scenes. Obama is running on the "CHANGE!" ticket, but nothing different will happen if he's elected. |

Actually, with the republicans now throwing McCain out as the nominee (all but decided), I really would have loved Gingrich to have run. Thompson really was horrible in his run, which shocked me a bit. However, I know that Gingrich is a true conservative and would be strong on defense. He would be more open than Bush, but definitely not a push over. He really understand government and policy making, but unless he goes as a surprise independent...no luck.
