Civilization Ii

Just wondering if any one out there is a civfanatic like me.I have played civilizationII for a long time(since the begining).
For those who have never heard of this it is a turn based game in which you start at 4000B.C. with one 'settler' and you carry the game building cities and armies for defending/attacking.Or you can establish alliances with other civs in the game, and plot your takeover of the world. Its a really addictive game, and one of the best strategy games of all time.I highly recommend this game. biggrin.gif

Ii Civilization

I once had the opportunity to get it but after seeing Age of Empires I went that way because the graphics seemed to be better.

Ii Civilization

I love Civ II !! Yeah, the graphics aren't real special, but I enjoy just building my little world and being the despot -- especially when my loyal subjects build my palace for me smile.gif

I have my favorite Wonders of the World to build, and the Civilization Advances are great to get -- Leonardo's Workshop is very cool because it upgrades everything automatically when you make discoveries of new technology. It's fun to play when I don't really want to think too hard laugh.gif

Game play for Age of empires is fantastic and meaningful since it is based on history (you learn a lot about how wars were waged). I have the golden edition with the original series and the expanisons. You have Age of Empires II and it is even better. I believe I have a review here: https://www.bordeglobal.com/club/

Farseer which version of civ II do you have? I have Test of Time (which is an upgraded version of civ II that has 3 diff games in it,the original game,an extended orignal game (where your spaceship lands and you must conquer Alpha Centari, new tech advances as well),the second is called Midgard (you play on a tolkien type world with elves, humans, and other fantasy races, all new tech tree for this version, all new units, new wonders). The third is a science fiction world called Lalande 21185, I have'nt really tried this one but it looks cool too.
I also have the orignal civ II ,been playing this version for over 10 years.
oh..... Test of time also has a multiplayer online so you can civ over the net with other players,Ive been dying to try this but its hard to find other players.

I usually play on prince level with the occasional switch to king level.I never get bored of this game, something I cant say for any other game ever.
Recently my brother and I have started a democracy game. This is play by as many people as desired. The first player takes a determined amount of turns, then he succeeds his power to the next "President" they play their turns and this continues untill the game is finished. Those who are not "President" become the presidental advisors, you can probably tell how in depth and different a game played this way will turn out.

JB : Thats some good info on Age of Empires, I like that it follows history the way it does. I will have to pick up the gold edition you mentioned. But I will always be a slave to civ.

I think Civ II is a great game. Yes it doesent have that great of graphics, but its still a great game. Its far deeper than Age of the Empires, because you can control taxes, polotics, and bunchs of more stuff. Don't get me wrong, I love AOE too.
