When someone is killed Execution Style as in the case of gun fire is it scientifically possible that the victim hears the gun shot before they die?

I would say yes I really should do some science stuff and calculate actual travel times, but here is my theory.

Gun works this way trigger pulled releases hammer hammer strikes firing cap and bang start to erupt. Once explosion of firing cap the powder then fires creating the force to push the lead. The lead then moves out of barrel adn into the head. While the last two actions were occurring the bang has been already travelling towards the victim. Thus the ear registers the sound but the brain might not have to to process and understand what it heard before bullet impact. Now this is where it gets hard the bullet is now ripping the brain apparent but at what point does the victim say eureka I heard the gun shot. I think even execution style it takes a second or two to achieve the brain death so yes the victim does hear and understand he heard the shot before death. By the time understanding comes the bullet is already passed through the brain.

Bullet speed= 1500 ft / sec (aguila 9mm ammo)
speed of sound = 1500 m/sec or 4950 ft/sec

I think about stuff like this way too much.

Good attempt at scientific deduction. I would have thought that the speed of sound would be less than the speed of the bullet so the person would not know - it would be a case of one moment you are alive and the next blackness ith no real in between.
