It seems like the guy who got the idea got a lot of support and at the same time a lot of criticism. What is your position?

I wonder who is being supportive about this? I know they are doing it for a good cause but they could of done different pictures on the calendar without showing guys half naked.
I don't think I like this idea at all. He is definitely not representing LDS members properly.
We show our humility and respect to our Heavenly Father when we look decent and clean and are appropriately covered. These man are not leaving much to the imagination.
The way we dress sends messages about us to others. If we are told to dress modestly, why is this Hardy guy think its okay to portray Mormon men shirtless?
Prophets of God have always counseled His children to dress modestly. The way you dress is a reflection of what you are on the inside. When you are well groomed and modestly dressed, you invite the companionship of the Spirit and can exercise a good influence on those around you.

As well, now he is thinking of doing a calendar with women! Is he going to have members in just their bras? Or showing their mid section? This I definitely dont agree with!

I would have to see the full Calendar to make a correct judgement on this, but one question does come up:
How does this differ from Miss 'x', who is an LDS Member, and who parades her body on stage in a bathing suit and be praised by LDS Members? We have a Thread on that somewhere.
Or, how does this differ from an RM that decides he is going to be a model as a career? Or are we saying that any form of modeling in this regard is wrong and against Church standards? If so, the Osmands have a lot to retract?

I saw most of the pics and are just shirtless guys to me who are portrait as "hot" along with their pictures as missionaries. Maybe there lies the issue. No different from any other male model these days.
Part of the sales are going to be donated to the areas where these missionaries have served.

Ah, well seeing it now then I would have to say that I disagree with this. I thought it was just them as models and they happen to be also RMs, BUT to actually display them when they were missionaries together with their current model picture is not appropriate in my opinion. I feel strongly about this having served a Mission myself and knowing the sacredness associated with it.

Yes, that's the ONLY part I found odd. They could have just show the guys alone but along with the missionary pics make the thing look kind of "cheap". Nevertheless, if it was just the guys alone I do not see anything wrong with it.
I would be interested in knowing what they are planning to do with the female version.

Wait, a female version? Now that is really pushing it. Consider all the people that were converted partly by these people, how is it going to affect their testimonies? I wonder if these RMs have considered that?

Cheap is not the word, it is more like utter disrespect. Could you imagine if this were done with photos of those who were Islamic missionaries - there would be burnings and murder as never before.

I suppose he is saying people would expect seeing women in sexy clothing but that's not what is going to be about. Again, he can mean anything.

Affect their testimonies? In what way having a pic of a shirtless returned missionary would affect someone's testimony? Like I said, if these guys are into modeling or want to break into the industry, this is a pretty good exposure. They are NOT naked, it is not pornographic....I won't even call it sexy because the pics are so plain and just showing muscles. I think the the big issue is that we have a pretty big group of prude members who won't approve something like that at all, but they WILL approve an LDS girl on a bathing suit in a beauty queen competition. Is it the issue maybe that they are men?
