I was on the phone with someone from FLOW yesterday on another matter and asked if he knew if there would be a reduction in prices to cater for the competition namely Blink Broadband and he said they were not told anything. You may want to check your sources because sometimes hopeful gossip flies around.
For existing TSTT HSIA 256Kbps customers: I don't think they would be upgraded to the $79 package, they would be upgraded to the package closest in price; remember HSIA is suppose to be about $400 without any discounts, and as such would be upgraded to the 2Mbps - $349 per month package. I do believe a Blink CSR is suppose to call before they change your package to ask if you would like to choose another though, but since Blink packages won't be available for the next 6 to 8 weeks, we would have to see what's going on.
You EVDO people did you all get that service so you can use your laptop anywhere - out of the house/neighbourhood?
Hexxx, are you saying that based on sources or just a guess?

High-speed Internet for rural T&T
People living in several rural areas throughout the country will soon be able to access high-speed broadband Internet access as efficiently and as cheaply as someone in the heart of Port of Spain as new frequencies have been made available to service providers.
After a day of bidding on several blocks of the available frequency bands (12 GHz and 700 GHz) it was stated by the Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (TATT) recently that two companies won several blocks of radio frequency and are now eligible for national spectrum licences.

I got my antenna today! It is 7" tall and has a 2" metal magnetic base so I can mount it on a car or somewhere high. The chord is 12' long with an adapter that fits into my Merlin 620. For the first time I am able to position my laptop within my home and see the Mobilink interface show four bars. I have not played with it to see where the absolute best position is, but at least I have a more steady connection.
Now after running some bandwidth tests with a better signal this is what I got:

Your current bandwidth reading is: 24.60kbps which means you can download at 3.08 KB/sec. from our servers. |
That is hot, but I thought you would at least get some kind of improved speed? Thats the whole idea of getting mine.
