Five new LDS temples planned

Five new temples for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were announced at the Saturday morning session of General Conference. In his opening remarks, President Thomas S. I'm surprised by the continual build up of Temples in Utah, is there really such a need to have such a concentration of Temples there?

Yes Jb, the temples here are literally crowded but there are so many around that I guess folks want to attend the closest to them you know, but anyhow I was surprised about the announcement about Brigham City since they have Ogden and Logan and the population at BC is not that big.

I think it is great. That means there is a need and the current ones are being overworked. There is actually some qualifications an area has to achieve before they even consider a Temple there. They take into account how many full tithe payers and activity levels of the area.

Utah's LDS membership is growing tremendously despite the criticism. I think we are getting lots and lots of latinos joining the church hence, the need for more temples.
