Working Through July & August

As a Teacher would you be willing to Work Through July & August if the Government gave you perks / increased salary?

August and July Working

Why not, perks would be amazing. Teachers need perks and I think an increased of salary would also be great. Yes, I would be willing to do that.

Working Through July & August Caribbean / Tobago & Trinidad

Wow don't know how I missed this one and it's over a year old ah geeze man wonder if it makes any difference now? Well never known to care if it makes a difference or not. Technically speaking the July/August holidays we pride ourselves in are not really holidays for teachers, they are holidays for the children but because there are no children to teach, there is no work for you. So the option is to stay home and get paid because it's not your fault you have no work to do. See the logic here? Technically the Ministry can call teachers out to work during the July/August holidays but which person or party is willing to commit such political suicide? Can you imagine the uproar? This is why whenever you want to leave the country on vacation you are required to get the permission from the Ministry of Education. Sounds unreal? To put it perspective, how do you think the Ministry was able to introduce that two days (where teachers have to report for work)before school starts in September literally unchallenged? Yes teachers complained the first year but notice there is no uproar about it now? TTUTA didn't even challenge it because their experts told them that it was all perfectly legal. Remember you are paid during this holidays, so the idea of perks or extra money doesn't stand here. Think about it, this holidays is a perk in itself, you are getting paid to do nothing.
