Halloween Help - Gospel Messages & Ideas
Last week as I was contemplating Halloween and what we were going to do this year I felt as if my kids needed to look at Halloween differently this year. I was praying about it and in my mind a sign/poster? flashed and it said BEWARE in red letters and I was a bit alarmed. Then it came again but this time it read, BEWARE of Pride. An idea started to be created for a family night. We held this FHE on the 1st and it went great.
Some of the ideas we came up with for example were:
*A big spider web and we wrote "Don't get caught in Satans' web" and we hung it on our front door with some of that fluorescent web decoration stuff.
*Dread the Day, Not the Night--if you don't CHOOSE THE RIGHT!
*My 13 year old son wrote a poem:
Oh Don't You Worry-There Are No Ghouls Here
The Powerful Priesthood, Is Always Quite Near!
*Beware of the Web--and then my oldest son put things that may be considered "traps" such as pornography and violence.
* WITCH path will you choose?
We would love to make some more posters and hang them around the house so that WE may read them and turn some of the negative words into positive messages. Also so that others may read them and know that we are a "FUN" Halloween family and not associated with the evil misconceptions that were covered in another thread.
Does anyone have some ideas?
Rather off topic, but... I love to PLAY ON words! |
Message Edited... JB: Fixed the title. |
How about Book of Mormon character costumes that they help make? That is a good conversation piece too, because when someone asks your child, "What are you supposed to be?" and your kid says, "Nephi", and they say "Nephi who?" you can talk about the Book of Mormon - have fun.

Thanks for the ideas regarding the costumes. They could have a lot of fun with that.
Jen-
We found it at the grocery store with the Halloween decorations--it was actually called Spider Web and came with like 6 or 8 little spiders in it. You have to pull it apart--kind of looks like a weird yarn. We have had a lot of compliments on it. Hope you have fun with it.
