A 31-year-old San Antonio woman was sentenced Friday to a year in federal prison for crashing weddings and stealing credit cards from the wedding participants while the couple said their vows.

This must be one of those nightmares couples do not want to face in their wedding day celebration! I am glad she is at least going to serve sometime in jail although the sentence seems lenient.

| Robin Neafie pleaded guilty to federal access device charges in April and was sentenced in U.S. District Court on Friday. Prosecutors said she found weddings by looking through newspaper announcements or local church listings and then showing up well-dressed for an event. While the ceremony was going on, authorities said she rifled through wallets and purses left unattended by wedding party members. Prosecutors said Neafie continued the scheme for four years before being caught in June 2006 after victims reported unauthorized charges. |

Weddings Crashing Prison Year Woman
I'm glad that this sentence was served out to this woman. This happened also at my sister's wedding, which was held at an exclusive country club, but somebody still managed to sneak in and take guests purses, wallets, money and credit cards. Not only did it put a dampener on the day, but it's just so awful for the guests who end up so much out of pocket.
Apparently this occurs more than people imagine, as it's "easy pickings" as guests are too busy dancing and having a good time to be keeping track of their valuables. It's sad that there are so many of these thieves out there preying on wedding parties!
