Filter Program

Content Protect seems to think this forum has illegal content rolleyes.gif. This is what one guest told me who tried to register on here but was blocked. This is what I wrote to him:

Is it one of those programs that checks the rating? I was long thinking of adding the site to a few. I can assure you we do not illegal activities here. The problem with those kinds of programs is that the AI is not smart enough to recognize truth from error. For instance if it detects the word 'Porn' then it will label your site as adult. Whereas you may be merely stating 'No Porn Allowed!' You should be able to feed it safe sites. Let me no if you have success, I would be interested for the sake of others too. Thanks.

This person could be being blocked for other reasons. There are of course variables that he should check into. If he was at work, they could be filtering key words. He should check cookies, whether they are allowed or not and he should check his own firewall.

My parents got a filtering program also and it prevented my brother from getting to a christian music site, specifically DC Talk.

If you want to post the content filter he was using, I would be willing to run it on all different filter levels, turn the logging up, and find out what is causing him the problem. Also, I would need to know where in the process he gets blocked. Let me know!

Thanks for the offer, but I am no longer in touch with the user, I figure if they are really interested in being here and knowing that it is a clean site they would just as soon turn off whatever was keeping them back - you may however feel free to see if you get blocked based on your content filtering programs by increasing the level of protection.

From my experience most content filters run at such a generic level it is nearly barbaric. I have used content filters in the past that would not even let me log into Microsoft Tech Net. I never figured out exactly why that was other than speculating it was because of the way their site handles cookies. I could find nothing else unusual about it in any case.
