What is the difference between an Educated Guess and a Guess?

Guess Educated

An educated guess is based on experience. A regular guess is based on luck.

Educated guess:

My wife makes an educated guess that I will be grumpy if I am woken up by my kids at 4:00 am on a saturday morning (its happens, I was grumpy, and I my wife makes a guess based on previous experience.)



Guess:

I guess if I call a stranger at 4:00 in the morning on Saturday waking them up they will be grumpy.( I have no previous experience with this person that I can base this guess on)

An educated guess could also be based upon knowledge one has gained (I suppose that's a form of experience).

To me an educated guess is a plausible outcome to a given circumstance based on previous knowledge and experience. Where a outright guess is when you have no knowledge or experience on the matter and for some reason you refuse to use any common sense on the matter and so you just blurt out the first thing that comes to mind.
