Network Marketing

Also known as "Multi-Level Marketing," these types of businesses come and go frequently. Some of the more popular you may have heard of are Amway and Shaklee.

The idea is, you are recruited by someone "above" you, then you recruit people "under" you. Each level of recruits brings in more dollars for the "upline" above them. Sometimes it's a great product, sometimes not. Sometimes the business goes on to fame and riches... most of the time, not. It takes a lot of dedication and persistence to actually make it to the highest levels of income. Less than one percent of people involved ever make it to "Diamond" or "Monarch" levels - these are the top echelon of money-makers. Oh, and by the way: You have to purchase the product each month, yourself, or you don't qualify for some of the bigger bonuses.

Have you ever been involved in one of these? What kind of experience did you have?
