Fast food salt levels 'shocking'
A treat at a fast food chain could expose children to "staggeringly" high levels of salt, a survey suggests.

I am not surprised by this latest report. All fast food outlets are guilty of this practice. It is the consumers who actually perpetuate the consumption of extra salt. If customers would complain to management of these fast food outlets about reducing the amount of salt added to the food, then this problem would cease to exist.
Rather off topic, but... I remember eating from a Burger King outlet in West Mall and I felt sick after taking one bite out of a long french fry because all I tasted was salt! I immediately asked for the manager and explained that I could not eat the fries because they were too salty. Of course, the manager grudgingly instructed an employee to make a fresh batch of fries and I even requested not to add any salt. |
The problem is that it isn't just hidden in junk food, it's also in branded 'normal' food such as cereals.
Sadly, a baby living near us died of that, as the parents were unaware of the dangers of high salt intake, they were trying to save money, and instead of using baby foods to wean their young baby they were using cereals and bought products that were not meant for babies. I think that better labelling laws are urgently required to prevent tragedys like this happening again.
