international QUOTE
While infidelity in some other societies is more widely accepted, "women in North America are raised to expect exclusivity in a (marriage) relationship."

I knew I was missing something. That, that right there is what I was missing. It's a cultural thing in North America to treat the institution of marriage as more than just a legal contract. Which is the aspect which destroys my previous point.

I have not read the previous posts but I want to point out that p-rn addiction in one persons eyes may be normal for others. We are on the topic and I don't want to offend or be crude but, the male species tends to relieve themselves about 2 times a week naturally. This is a modest estimation as many do so more often depending on age and other variables.
Masterbation is not in my mind a thing to be frowned on or thought disgusting. It is a natural thing that a huge portion of the populous engage in.

I understand we are talking about p-rn addiction. However for many there is no addiction but a real biological drive pulling them into this act.

We could try and argue that the act of looking at p-rn is immoral but then we are in more of religious territory and personal beliefs other than talking about an actual mental or physical addiction.

A little off topic but for me this is along the same lines as saying a drug addiction is a disease. Facts on the table it isn't really a disease.

True addictions consume your life and force you to act in a certain harmful ways to yourself and those around you. While it is true p-rn addiction does exist I think in most all cases it is misdiagnosed by a religious or an otherwise nosy individual.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, this is true. What is also true though is that if a persons opinion happens to be that they enjoy p-rn very much, well then that should be in their rights.
I will say if you have such a pull to looking at all this stuff you should let your partner know ahead of time. They might not share the same view as you. If your hiding it that is called deception and deception in relationships is very, very rarely a good thing.

In short I would just say take into consideration all of the facts. I don't use the word facts lightly here in that not all p-rn viewing is of the addiction type. In my opinion it really quite normal and in many cases actually a very healthy thing.

As long as you are not denying your partner the attention they require I see no issue. Unless you yourself are harming yourself by it. As in not going to work because of it. Spending obscene amounts of money you don't really have on it. Or missing a loved ones birthday for it. Something along the lines of an actual true addiction.

Recovery from p-rn addiction is possible

"Can a person completely heal?" says Hilton, speaking of individuals devastated by p-rn-graphy use. "The answer is unequivocally yes." He calls p-rn-graphy as addictive as any drug. "Is it destructive?" he said. "Absolutely." Recent science, he added, has vindicated those who, for years, have noted that natural addictions, such as compulsive p-rn-graphy use and drug addictions, behave the same. "Now we know that functionally and physically they are very much the same," he said. Ref. Source 9

Sen. Orrin Hatch irate over Obama's p-rn-graphy policy

The contention over Holder's decision to end the Obscenity Prosecution Task Force comes less than two weeks after Hatch circulated a letter signed by 42 U.S. Senators and addressed to Holder that, per CBS News, "calls on the Department of Justice to 'vigorously' enforce federal obscenity laws 'against major commercial distributors of hardcore adult p-rn-graphy.'" Pastors share personal struggles with p-rn addiction

The Oklahoma City Oklahoman reports that the Rev. Chris Beall's battle with p-rn-graphy started at a very early age when he found a pornographic magazine. The Internet increased his ability to access p-rn-graphy anonymously, and his appetite for pornographic materials accelerated even as he was establishing himself as a pastor. Ref. Source 3

Study: Those who purchase sex are more likely to engage in criminal activities

"This research study compared 101 men who buy sex with 100 men who did not buy sex, matched by age, ethnicity and education level. Most had a wife or girlfriend at the time of the study," said a report on the group's website. "... Sex buyers were far more likely than non-sex buyers to commit felonies, misdemeanors, crimes related to violence against women, substance abuse-related crimes, assaults, crimes with weapons and crimes against authority." Much the same is true of pornography. Even in defending what he believes is a moral right to pornography, Ronald Dworkin has identified the public nature of the interests damaged in communities in which pornography becomes freely available and widely circulates. Ref. Source 7
