I am currently watching Phenomenon, a new TV show that picks the best of the best magicians / illusionists. What are your thoughts about it. Are any of the things shown real?

Power of suggestion does not seem to work with me as I chose two different things that was not chosen. I like how Criss put the challenge to the guy who claimed to speak with the dead. I knew he would do something like that given his feelings of disbelief about things like this.

Sorry magic means illusion. Yes people are great at powers of suggestion and even better out at finding the correct subjects to use, but people like JB just think out of the box to much and blow the illusion of magic out of the water.

It is a good show though.

The last one was two hours and I would have enjoyed all of it but some of the acts seemed to be cheesy for this level of performance. I thought the little squabble between Criss and the guy who claimed to speak with dead people was really cheap and made both guys look bad.

Criss Angel was actually threatening to react like that on Larry King Live the night before if that one guy, whatever his name is, said that he was doing his trick by the power of speaking with the dead.

What I do not understand is why did the 'dead' person not simply write 'Yellow Car' rather than 'Rectangle', 'Four Wheels' and 'Metal', etc?

What I do not understand is if Criss has a problem with those who say speak with the dead, how come he does not have a problem with every magician in the show? Because (based on his belief) nobody has "supernatural"abilities then the whole show is a fake of people making others believe they are using their minds ("mentalists") to accomplish something when in fact they do not use it at all but a trick is involved.

So what is the difference between deceiving by saying you speak with the dead and deceiving by saying you can read minds?
