University of Michigan Press to Continue Publishing Joel Kovel's "Overcoming Zionism" After Initially Dropping Book Due to Rightwing Criticism *

Last week the University of Michigan Press voted unanimously to continue distributing books from the London-based independent publishing house Pluto Press. The controversy began earlier this summer when the university press initially decided to stop distributing Joel Kovel's "Overcoming Zionism: Creating a Single Democratic State in Israel/Palestine."

Unfortunately, if you get rid of the Jewish state in current israel, then you will have a situation where Hamas would be one of the main players. Their stated goal is the destruction of israel, not a joint governing body with israel.

Hamas has stated that there can be no Jewish influence in the area.

There can be no doubt that Hamas (one of the main political parties for the Palestinians) could never jointly govern with the Jewish population. Conversely the Jewish Parliament has had several arabi-israelis in it.

Based only on the title of the book, the Author seems to have a blatant bias that he has not hidden. A more productive title would have been "Hamas: the real reason for mideast violence" or "Palestinians don't really want peace".

As you can tell I have a bias myself.
