ICQ was my favorite chat program. It is still good, but plagued by ads and spammers now since the take over. Anyway, my point here is that certain users trying to install the latest version may get a DCOM request and no matter how much you install DCOM it still asks you for it. I wrote support over the issue but they could not answer, so I came up with the answer myself. Here is what I wrote to them:

Okay I figured out the problem - you may wish to advise your clients:
When you install DCOM you ALSO have to download the Config file
and then look for the tab to enable it (this is a separate program) for
use on your computer.

It has been at least 5 years since I last used ICQ. I imagine it has changed tremendously since then. I've always thought about going back to it but I dont even use Yahoo Messenger that often now, so there may not be a need to. Any recommendations on using ICQ over Yahoo Messenger?

Well ICQ has a lot more functions than yahoo, but I like and rather yahoo's clean cut straight to the point look. I mainly use these programs to find / chat with clients and nothing more, so once it does that I am game.
