Well, personally I agree that all illegals should be deported back...HOWEVER, this particular law seem to have some holes or target a certain ethnicity group whether they are legal or illegal. It seems to me there will be too much "freedom" on the part of the cop to decide or not whether his suspicion over someone being legal or not could grant him the right to question. It can become an abusive tool and the situation of "Peter paying for Paul" or racial profiling.
Is the police in Arizona going to stop a white guy with a British accent to find out whether he is legal or not? Probably not.
Those are my concerns.

Dozens of Immigrant Rights Activists Arrested in Arizona
At least fifty people were arrested in Arizona yesterday in protests against the state's new anti-immigrant law. The law went into effect on Thursday, but not before a federal judge blocked four key parts of the legislation. One of the biggest protests occurred in Phoenix outside of the Fourth Avenue Jail run by Sheriff Joe Arpaio. We speak with Carlos Garcia, lead organizer for the Puente Movement. Ref. Source 7
Well that's kind of the point. There isn't a horde of white guys with british accents coming over in loads and loads. Running around committing all sorts of crimes and speaking in a different language. I think some racial profiling is going to occur. However that is what this problem is about, too many illegal Mexicans.
It is a drastic law in that way in some respects but I think its needed. Imagine if one day thousands and thousands of people started flocking to your neighborhood. They did not speak your language and started taking your jobs. At some point you have to say ok wait a second, we have to stop this before it gets out of control.
In America's case it is already out of control. We are just reaching for straws on ways to curb the flow. Just like the oil well that needed to be capped. They sat around trying to figure out how to cap it or who should cap it, meanwhile tons of oil spilt out everywhere. Then after it was already a very bad situation they had to try unconventional ways of capping it.
I don't want to say that illegal Mexican immigrants are a poison but, they kind of are to the country when they are out of control like this. They are illegal and committing crimes just to be let back into the streets. We should be able to defend ourselves against all foreign threats and this is a definite real problem for many, many Americans.

As written, it did give the police a lot of freedom in who to stop to make sure that they have proper papers. It reminded me of being asked for proper paperwork while walking the streets here in Japan. Now, would they have stopped someone that looked Japanese? No. Did I get all bent out of shape about having to have proper ID? No. I just showed them my ARC card and everything was good. I mean you have to have your drivers license when you drive your car and no one complains. I just know, since I am a foreigner, that I have to have my ARC on me at all times. Was I profiled in the request? Yes. Should they ask a few Japanese just to make it even? No...waste of tax payer money.
With the additional proposed freedom to the police on questioning immigration status, comes the responsibility. If they are right all the time, then we can hardly fault them for doing their jobs correctly and being responsible for the deportation of several illegal aliens. However, should they screw up and detain US citizens for any period of time, well you can bet the media will be giving the scoop on each one of those cases and it will look horrible for the police. So yes, they would have a lot of freedom, but with it comes a price for misuse and incorrect of the freedom. You can bet they arent going to be going after the illegal immigrant in his station wagon driving the kids to soccer. However, if you are driving a truck full of mexican workers...you probably will be getting a closer look.
Even with the 4 things blocked, this is a huge step in the right direction, as it will force the use of laws that are already on the books. There is a lot in there about employers found hiring illegal immigrants! There are reasons that they are still protesting this law even after several things have been blocked.

AZ protests 'grassroots'?
'Expected to be peaceful' protests turned violent. Nooooo, SDS & SEIU protesters turned violent? Get out! The media doesn't seem interested in telling the complete truth - these protesters have an agenda and are being bussed in from all around the country. A solid majority of Americans back the Arizona Immigration law, but the MSM just can't seem to put two and two together on that one. Ref. Source 7
At this point I feel more and more like we are under attack. I can understand protesting but as these "protests" become more violent it is pointing towards something else. The law is the law and you are allowed to peacefully protest. On another note in our laws it states we are expected to defend ourselves against any attack from within or from outside our borders. I don't know the exact quote but from what I remember that is part of our laws.
Again I am trying to understand why the media is playing this as us vrs them. It is good for ratings but peoples lives are at stake. I wish they would report things more objectively so that everyone could get all the information. The way this is being spun makes it sound like the protesters that are turning violent are the victums.

Comments: My main question for Americans is why now? Illegals have been crossing into your borders for decades. What about now is different that Arizona wants to do this?
