Russians Were Way Ahead Of The US
I am watching a documentary by the History channel about the Russian aerospace program before World War II and they were way ahead of everyone else, even the US in what they could do with a plane and rocket. As early as 1942 the Russians already had flying rocket powered planes. The big problem with the lack of them coming forward with this technology was Stalin. Every time one of his brilliant scientists would come up with a fantastic prototype they would be immediately sent to prison under false charges of treason. Stalin mistrusted his own scientists and it was to his own demise.
