Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of Twelve Apostles recently experienced what he called his most embarrassing day ever. It happened in his hometown of St. George where a new digital learning center at Dixie State, was named in his honor. Ref. Source 5
Elder Holland tosses first pitch at Dodgers game
The 28th of June was Mormon Night at Dodger Stadium, an annual event sponsored by the Dodgers for over 30 years and the organization's largest community event. An estimated 5,000 Church members attended Friday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies. Elder Holland's pitch was caught by Elder Kevin S. Hamilton of the Church's Second Quorum of the Seventy. Mormon Apostle Speaks on "Big Issues" of Faith, Family, Religious Freedom
In his speech (Originally given to law school students and alumni in February in Washington D.C.), Elder Holland cites the Pew Forum on Religious Life finding that one in five U.S adults claim no religious affiliation. He notes that Mormons and other believers "must be ever more effective in making the persuasive case for why both religious belief and institutional identity are more relevant than ever and deserve continued consideration and privilege within our society."
