U.S. Rep. Henry Waxman, a Democrat who has represented a California district in the House for four decades, announced today that he will not run for re-election.
Waxman, 74, is the ranking member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
"In 1974, I announced my first campaign for Congress," He said in a statement. "Today, I am announcing that I have run my last campaign. I will not seek re-election to the Congress and will leave after 40 years in office at the end of this year." Ref. USAToday
