This movie comes out on my birthday next month. I am very excited about this movie if not for the fact that the previews merely set the scene but fail to give any real information on the movie. We don't really know what this movie is about. Keeping that excitement about the movie will make this a huge box office hit its first weekend. After that, it depends on how good it is and how word of mouth spreads. I'm off for my birthday and will go see it. I'll post what I think of the movie.
This film runs with 'Dawn of the Dead' mixed in a bit with any old Vampire movie. There were nice pieces of suspense, but I thought the movie was a bit overrated. I was surprised to see the emphasis in direct and indirect religious symbolism. Anyone have any views on why the religious 'zeal' in the movie?

It is the year 2012. In the ruins of New York city. Robert Neville who is a military scientist who is the lone survivor of a biochemical disease which was supposed to cure cancer 3 years previous. With only blood thirsty zombies as his neighbors and his trusty dog, Samantha, Robert is trying to discover a cure for this disease and to find out any other people who might have also survived.

I found that this movie was interesting. The fact that humans have degenerated to their more basic hunter mentality is interesting after a cure for cancer was introduced. To be the only one left in a large city that is controlled at night by the roaming groups of what is now primeval man would not be a good thing. Knowing that you are immune to the change that has caused men to revert back to this barbistic state is a interesting twist. Now finding a cure to cure this new man made disease is the whole of the story. I would rate this movie one .
Robert Neville is a scientist who was unable to stop the spread of the terrible virus that was incurable and man-made. Immune, Neville is now the last human survivor in what is left of New York City and perhaps the world. For three years, Neville has faithfully sent out daily radio messages, desperate to find any other survivors who might be out there. But he is not alone. Mutant victims of the plague - The Infected - lurk in the shadows"¦ watching Neville's every move"¦ waiting for him to make a fatal mistake. Perhaps mankind's last, best hope, Neville is driven by only one remaining mission: to find a way to reverse the effects of the virus using his own immune blood. But he knows he is outnumbered"¦ and quickly running out of time.
