Hmmm...it sounds so darn fishy to me. Maybe someone payed big bucks for the third runner up to take over?

It seems Donald Trump's Miss Universe Organization has more scandals than it does sashes -- and the 2008 pageant looks to be no exception. Last Sunday, Christina Silva was crowned the new Miss California USA. However, just days after her magic moment, Silva was thrown from the throne. Pop Tarts has been told that the Hollywood hottie was asked to hand over her crown on Thursday night as the first runner-up respectfully represented her title at several red carpet events in Los Angeles. "I was notified by phone this afternoon that there was a mix-up in the ballots," Brandi Williams told us. "I thought as the first runner-up I was to take title, if for any reason Miss California USA 2008 was asked to relinquish her crown." But for some reason, a different finalist now has the top job. According to K2 Productions, the counting of the ballots was incorrect and read backward by mistake. But if that were the case, Pop Tarts and many others question - how did the third runner-up end up the new reigning queen? "This isn't about spilt milk and being upset about the crown," said Williams. "It's about justice for the young ladies who competed in this pageant, their sponsors and restoring integrity to an institution. I was proud to be a part this experience and hope to continue to make California proud. My heart breaks for Christina and something just isn't adding up." |
As an update, the real Miss California was crowned. The girl that gave up the crown was allowed to keep the crown, sash and necklace and they also returned her the $1,500 entry fee after the mix up. I wonder if this is going to affect her self-esteem at all because in fact, she got the lowest mark and the real winner the highest.
