How anti-establishment outsider Donald Trump was elected the 45th president of the United States
The political novice was taken seriously by almost no one when he announced his presidential bid 16 months ago, but he forged a message of economic grievance and political change that resonated with white voters in rural areas and small towns. Ref. USAToday.
Besides Trump, the oldest man to be elected, winning he also has the Republican majority in the House and Senate which means some of those laws he wants created to overturn abortion, stop legal euthanasia, deportation of immigrants and so forth might come to fruition. Paul Ryan and him will now need to have some talks again.

President-elect Donald Trump called President Barack Obama a "Very good man" as the two long-time antagonists met in the Oval Office in a ritual epitomizing the peaceful transfer of power.
Obama said the two men talked about foreign policy and domestic policy and that he was encouraged by Trump's interest in working together during the transition.
"My No. 1 priority in the next two months is to try to facilitate a transition that ensures our President-elect is successful," Obama said.
As the two men sat in the Oval Office, Obama told Trump: "If you succeed, the country succeeds."
Trump thanked Obama for the meeting, which he said had originally been scheduled for 10-15 minutes but instead ran about 90 minutes.
"Mr. President, it was a great honor being with you, and I look forward to being with you many, many more times," Trump said.
The President-elect also said he would seek counsel from Obama. Ref. CNN.
