A defiant President Donald Trump said Friday he is willing to testify under oath about his conversations with fired FBI Director James Comey.
At his first press conference since Comey's testimony in front of the Senate intelligence committee on Thursday, Trump also refused to say whether tapes of those meetings exist.
"I'll tell you about that sometime in the very near future," Trump said.
Meanwhile, the President offered a blunt assessment of Comey's testimony before the panel.
"No collusion, no obstruction, he's a leaker," Trump said. Ref. CNN.
President Donald Trump, in a furious message, confirmed that he is being investigated for his role in firing former FBI Director James Comey and seemed to accuse the deputy attorney general of overseeing a "Witch hunt" against him.
Trump's tweet Friday reflected the first official confirmation that he is being investigated by the special counsel for Comey’s firing last month. Trump conceded in an interview after the episode that he was thinking about the Russia controversy when he made that decision.
It was not clear if Trump's comment was based on news reports or if the White House had been given official notice. Ref. CNN.
President Trump has hurt himself more than any news organization has hurt him. I understand he won the election by being himself. But the election is over and now it's time to govern. That means controlling some of your instincts, like tweeting ans saying the first thing that comes to mind. He gives the news much of the ammunition it needs… and the news takes it, opinionizes it, and then reports it as news. But if he didn't put it out there it'd be more difficult for the to twist things.
Yes that is true and by the time the news gets down with it by twisting it so badly out of context that the people they are reporting it to are even growing more divided. So between his tweets and the news twisting of facts we are seeing the country getting closer to a dangerous breaking point. The so called leaders in Washington are doing all they can to help widen that divide.
