Truly Tragic. I just am confused how the little tyke managed to close the door from the inside if it was an accident. Though many times I find my dishwasher door closed but not tight to I will just push it shut with little or no mind to it.

That poor 13 year old I hope he gets some help as that would be one of his worst days in his life and I am sure many nightmares and self blaming to followed.

I just do not understand how this dishwasher could start running by just closing the door. What about safety issues? This is just a tragic moment. My heart goes to the little boy and his family.

I think if the start cycle is selected or any cycle then when the door is closed it would continue. I found the article lacking in details, likely because of the investigation is still continuing. I do not want to speculate at this point as a million reasons could be but I do suspect a second party had to be involved some how.
