TASER REVAMPS CIVILIAN WEAPON

At just a bit heavier than a remote control and nearly the same size, a new civilian Taser offers protection without triggers or bullets.

I am sure the local thug will really enjoy this one. I am glad they are illegal in Canada as the reality is a very inconspicuous weapon that any one can use. We need less small weapon that are designed to kill or mutilate people not more.

Sorry this one gets bad idea from me.

Civilian Weapon History & Civil Business Politics

There are a whole lot of safeguards in this weapon, including the use of serial numbers on pieces of paper that fall to the ground whenever the weapon is used.

Think of a gun that when you fire a bullet it sprays out bunches of paper that tell everyone what the serial number of the gun (which is registered) is.

I give it a thumb's up (not that anyone probably CARES!).

Yes it sprays out paper but if you use this for illegal activities I am betting it would be stolen to start with. It is the same problem that is faced with hand guns...

Registration only works for the law obeying person.

That's true - regarding registration. They could be stolen, etc. But which would you rather have out there, a gun or this?

None, hate weapons of any kind and anything that resembles a gun is creepy to me. Don't take me wrong, I DO understand the choices of some people in this dangerous times, I just personally dislike them.

I have never understood people's fear of weapons. Would it not be more logical to fear the person behind the weapon rather then the tool used to injure or kill someone.

A ice pick is very useful, especially when it is hot outside and you have a block of ice. but if you have ever seen a mobster movie, then you know what it can do to the back of someones neck.

A screwdriver.
A car.
An Airplane.

These are all items that have been utilized by most of us. But in the wrong hands these can be as deadly if not more deadly then a gun or a tazer.

Should we start banning screwdriver's, ice picks, cars and Airplanes.

To me a tazer is a tool that can be used to protect yourself. In the wrong hands it can be dangerous.

But in the wrong hands a car, airplane, ice pick or screwdriver can be dangerous also. I believe we should spend more time taking criminals out of commission rather then the tools that they use (because they will always find something to kill you with if they want to, regardless of what we take off the streets).

I am not sure if the word is "fear". I personally do not like guns in general and I definitely don't want one in my house. Of course the actual gun is not the one to fear but the person using it but I guess we live in such uncertain times that you see way too many bad people using guns to commit all kind of crimes. It is just my personal opinion, don't like them but I do understand the need or want of someone to have one to PROTECT themselves.

Don't need to watch movies. I live in Trinidad and Tobago, a place with a very high percentage of violent crimes. I have seen high-school girls and boys with ice picks before getting into fights.

Those are good points Dbackers, unfortunately guns were created only for ONE purpose, the rest of the examples you gave are people CHOOSING those tools and giving them ANOTHER use to the one that was intended.
