Scrommett Introduction

I am a 48 year old woman who has multiple medical problems and have been told by my Pain Management Doc that I need to see an Addictionologist. My insurance company has not been of much help and directed me to 2 treatment centers in the area and they could not help me.
What is an addictionologist anyway. The information that I get online is that they want to detox you of all meds. I can't do this.
The only reason that my pain management doc wants me to see the addictionologist was because one of my urine screens came back showing alcohol.
I have had a problem with alcohol in the past and did go to treatment.
I lost my mother suddenly in June and have been under allot of stress and having panic attacts so I did drink but I realize what I did and stopped knowing what it did to me in the past.
I think that she,the pain doc, is just trying to cover her basis but if I can't find this elusive addictionologist that will take my insurance ,I fear that I might be dropped from the pain management program.
