Slippers
At home do you walk around bare foot, with slippers or shoes? If so which kind and why?
I always wear slippers / sandals as I cannot stand to walk around barefoot, in fact, it amazes me to see people doing this outside of their home in the street and elsewhere. As for brand, no particular one is needed, so long as it is not sponge rubber or cloth, comfortable and lasts long.
Right now where I live it is about 12 degrees F outside. Inside it is about 65 degrees F and we try to keep it on the cool side to save on heat. With heating oil so expensive, it is worth it to wear an extra sweater. That was off topic! My point was that with it this cold, you have to have something on your feet. I prefer socks, my daughter wears socks -and- shoes for some reason. I'd rather it be summer though so I could be bare-footed in the grass outside!
When I was a kid, I was barefoot every chance I had! Now, I'm a lot more careful with my feet and I wear either fuzzy slippers or sandals in the house (depending on the season), and never go barefoot outside unless it's at the beach or poolside.
Offtopic but, My mother is diabetic, and her doctor told her not to go barefoot at all because of the tendency to have numbness/circulation problems in the feet and not notice if a splinter or other injury happens. |
I went barefoot a lot as a kid. I still do around my house. Most slippers make my feet too hot. I did get some rather expensive sheepskin slippers for Christmas which I love. I will wear those, or go barefoot, or wear socks around the house. I also love the feel of cool grass or warm sand between my toes.
When I was little, we all had to take our shoes off when we went into the house. I used to hate this, so now I tend to never take my shoes off in the house, and would never expect anyone else to feel that they had to either.
I guess it comes down to personal choice, none of my kids like wearing shoes, so they immediately take their shoes off, but at least it's by choice and they don't feel obliged to!
