Snow Removal

I have noted a terrible trend over the last few years in Southern Ontario, this being the huge lack of snow removal equipment.

My Rant:

It seems every winter we get snow but yet if it is more than 6" the wholes south Central core comes to an abrupt halt. I can understand 3 or 4 feet bring things to a halt if it is dumped I 12 or 15 hours or less if accompanied by high winds and poor visibility. This last Sunday we get 12 to 18 inch of snow dropping over a period of 8 hours so so no high winds yet not a plow to be seen on any side street and very few along the main core. Now the night before they were up and down and all around not plowing or even dropping some sand on the roads.

Some years back Toronto Hamilton Burlington sold to buffalo snow removal equipment because we don't need it? I would like to have to that blighter behind every car I pushed from the front of my driveway yesterday. The glue the people that where out driving around in low cars that can not do that! So but you have 12 inch snow and a car with 5 inch clearance what do they expect to happen?

I admit we do not get the snow fall we use to but that to me is offset by the large increase I traffic. Poorly plowed roads in a remote area are bad but at least you have the trucks to get threw it and the lack of traffic allowing you to keep your speed up to do so. In the south we have people who crawl at 20 KMH and ponder why they get stuck at the fist sign of a bump. Second issue is we are bumper to bumper in rush hour and no one can move because of congestion then every one gets stuck in the slush.

I question do we need to just get more plows running more often yes it slows traffic down but so does a three car pile up. That way at least every can get where they need and just have to get their lazy bones out of bed and take their time to get their safe. The second option should they just close the roads and wait till the snow stops then go clear it. Leaving them open with the snow on them is most definitely the worst choice they have and yet it is the one they continue to use.

I say pile all the bent bumpers scratched finders and cars that are wrote off in front of city hall like a big snow bank and see if they can drive through them.
