I will go left wing on this and state I wish they would investigate further before making arrests and such. What if the child just decided to go wander and snuck out? I have nephew that was guilty of doing things like that at that age. He was 5 snuck out then took all his cloths off and made a snow angle. Lucky it was in day time and my sister caught him before any harm could occur. What if he had done that in the night?
I hope that the parents were not passed out and left the door unlocked, in which case yes they need professional help badly.
Children have been getting up and wandering outside for as long as I can remember. I know I did it when I was younger. My daughter tried it when she was young. I have picked up a couple neighbor kids when I found them out wandering alone in the early mornings or late nights. I think this is something that is going to continue to happen. I am just glad that this little girl was ok. I am hoping that nothing is done to the parents. They just need to make sure there is a chain on the door that she can not unhook to get out.

Comments: I'm a local person and the parents in question are well known. Lets just say that if you suspect the worst of them, then you won't be disappointed. This is not a case of some innocent mistake.
