Living a double life, I wonder how many people in high positions claim to be US citizens when they are not?

MILWAUKEE (AP) - A man who took a dead cousin's identity to pose as a U.S. citizen in order to become a police officer was deported from the United States on Sunday. Oscar Ayala-Cornejo, 25, was arrested May 31 after an anonymous tip and was charged with falsely representing himself as an American citizen. He accepted a plea deal, agreeing to be deported, and resigned from the Milwaukee police force. A judge sentenced Ayala last month to a year of probation. Darryl Morin, special projects coordinator for the League of United Latin American Citizens, said Ayala left on a flight out of Milwaukee on Sunday morning. Dense fog had forced the cancellation of Ayala's flight on Saturday. He was flown to Guadalajara, Mexico, where his family moved from in 1992. In a cell phone interview as he arrived at the Milwaukee airport on Saturday, Ayala said he was sad to leave his family and friends but was optimistic. He plans to stay with relatives in Guadalajara and study computer engineering. "I enjoyed my time here and I have no regrets," he said. Being a police officer was his dream job. "I love this country," he said Saturday. "I love everything it has to offer." In a November, Ayala said his father helped him change his identity to Jose Morales, a cousin who was a U.S. citizen but who died as a child of stomach cancer... |

There are a couple of things that really bother me about this case. First off, this guy was a standup citizen...paid his taxes and contributed to society in his job. He was very good at his job of being a police officer. Unfortunately, he did all of this illegally and that is going to hurt him at ever getting into the US legally. I want more Jose Morales/Oscar Ayala's in America. He was a contributor his entire time in the US and was not taking advantage of any social programs, free money and paid his taxes. He tried to keep the people of his community safe!
I am really not big on illegal aliens being allowed to just flow across the fence below because many of them are a drain on our social programs, but even I ask myself what harm has this man done...actually he was a better citizen than many of the legal ones we have! I do hope that the "Anonymous Tipster" has a wonderful Christmas and relishes the fact that they got him deported. I do hope it was worth it. Figuring that it had to be someone close enough to him to having found out such a secret, I am sure they will see the pain on the family's face over the coming days.
Lastly, why on earth couldn't his deportation wait until after Christmas and the New Year Holidays? It is likely that Morales/Ayala's family is Catholic and this is a special time of year. The man has spent over 10 years here, what is another week or two. It wouldn't be good either way, but at least they could have had a big family dinner and a proper Christmas celebration to send him off in style.
Congrats on the brother getting his job back as a police officer.

Serves him right. You come in my country illegally then you are an illegal period. You can take on being a cop or a judge it don't change a thing! Thats the thing with these people from across the boarder, they want to come here pull the wool over our eyes and we must just roll over an act dead.
