Seitaad ruessi
Seitaad ruessi (SAY-eet-AWD ROO-ess-EYE) is a rare and important find because of where it was found and because it fills a genealogical gap in the family history of the giant, long-necked, herbivorous sauropod dinosaurs that populated the later Jurassic, according to a report appearing in Wednesday's edition of PLoS ONE, the online open-access journal of the Public Library of Science. Dinosaur discoveries shake up sauropod story
"I guess it's dangerous to put stuff on the Internet," says Henry Galiano of Maxilla & Mandible, Ltd., the Manhattan fossil shop, and the co-author of the report. Galiano and co-author, Raimund Albersdorfer, posted the draft studyclaiming they have found a new sauropod species "Amphicoelias Brontodiplodocus." One of their sauropod specimens nicknamed Apollo, a reconstructed 83 feet-long and 14 foot high creature, went on display last month in the Pennsylvania State Capitol in Harrisburg. Ref. Source 8
