GodMen
Are Christian men in America too "wimpy"? Has the church been too "feminized"? These controversial questions were just some discussed during a day-long meeting of GodMen, a new movement drawing hundreds of Christian men around the country. The group's principal founder, comic Brad Stine, argues that manliness and morality shouldn't have to be a trade-off.

Why is it when some men refer to the "gold old days" of masculinity they always make reference to men being aggressive and confrontational? Why is masculinity only to be associated with such violent attributes? Why can't it be about merging more soft skills like emotional intelligence with a physical strength? I'm a young man (I'm 26) so maybe I just don't understand what the older guys are talking about but it seems to me that running your society along purely patriarchal lines (I.E Afghanistan) is not healthy.
These guys misunderstand Christ completely. "Meek" does not equal "weak." Do you think it showed weakness to suffer the sins of the world? Was it weak to be beaten nearly to death and then hang on a cross for hours after having wrists and hands hammered to the wood?
A meek man is actually someone who is sought out for leadership - in the military, business, and in church. Meek means not easily provoked or aggravated, someone who has mastered his "self" completely, and showing forbearance when annoyed or injured. In other words, strength within himself to know how to be calm in the face of danger or calamity. Not just turning the other cheek to be struck down again, but knowing when it's necessary to fight and when fighting will serve no purpose.
I think it's highly insulting for these guys to call Jesus Christ the "bearded lady." The last person in the world I would follow in religious teachings is some stand-up comic with a wimpy/machismo complex.
