Dedicated to Dad
Beyond the blue hills
I once lived in Dragon Town
With great ruby Scorch
And his beautiful nursery
Shy and gallant Spot
With the fantastic restaurant
Talented Bernie
And his unique works of art
I never forgot
Not Goldie or sweet Amy
Not good cousin Spike
Nor the Black Dragon trickster
But I am not so young
And you now are growing old
Rarely do you read,
Sing songs, or tell me stories
But I will not forget
Grand old days of Dragon town
Beyond the blue hills
Not really any symbolism in there. My dad made up a bunch of stories about a town where dragons and people lived and worked together. It wasn't set in any particular place or time. The main characters were the dragons. Spot owned a resaurant with his human friend Amy, Spike was a security guard at the bank, Scorch ran a plant nursery, and goldie was Bernie's girlfriend and a shrink. A lot of the stories referenced a myth about The Black Dragon who played tricks on other dragons and people. I'm trying to talk Dad into writing a few of the stories down and see about publishing as a children's book.
