Miniature nuclear reactors some small enough to fit in a two-car garage are an appealing alternative to massive, multibillion-dollar power facilities.

Minireactors Power Nuclear Future Is
I am not sure how a miniature nuclear power plant is going to be very much safer than a regular sized plant. You still have to have containment and having a smaller one will make it easier for people to get their hands on a plant and send it into a meltdown mode. This can cause more danger than just having a few larger ones. I feel that smaller nuclear sites are not the answer.
