AP - Massachusetts lawmakers said Monday they would try to restore $4 million in state funds for two local zoos after operators suggested that without the money, animals might have to be destroyed - a claim the governor called a scare tactic.

I think that if the state can not fund the zoos then yes the animals may have to be destroyed if they can not transfer them to another zoo. I think that many zoos are not being funded as well as they should. I hope that as the economy turns around this helps the zoos out too.
