Enduring To The End

"The test a loving God has set before us is not to see if we can endure difficulty. It is to see if we can endure it well. End To Enduring

My second mission president always said, "ENJOY to the end, don't just endure." Truly, if we are not generally enjoying the journey to exaltation, something is wrong, either with our efforts or with our attitude about them or ourselves.

Enduring To The End Studies Doctrine Mormon

I have a question about this principle. There are many scriptures and prophets that have told us to endure to the end and that those who do shall be saved at the last day, and blessed is he who endures all things. I am trying to figure out if enduring to the end means to suffer or tolerate certain things by bearing burdens and outlasting or continuing in struggles and challenges, or if enduring means to overcome certain things, surmounting them, not merely living with them. These are the two definitions that I found in the online Merriam-Webster Dictionary:

Does endurance mean that we have to completely overcome our personal trials, conquering our feelings in order to say that we 'endured it well', or does it simply mean to to patiently undergo challenges and bearing with the outcomes with as much of a positive attitude and outlook as we can? (as a hardship) I am interested in thoughts going either direction on this.

End To Enduring
