19th-century weapon found in whale
A 50-ton bowhead whale caught off the Alaskan coast last month had a weapon fragment embedded in its neck that showed it survived a similar hunt - more than a century ago. Embedded deep under its blubber was a 3 1/2-inch arrow-shaped projectile that has given researchers insight into the whale's age, estimated between 115 and 130 years old.

Wow, I did not know whales can live that long! This is amazing. I read in the article that some whales can live almost to 200 years. It obviously did not really hurt her since she lived 100 years more after the incident.
Interesting! I didn't realize they lived so long, either. 100 years ago, whale hunting was very dangerous business. Wonder what happened to the boat that held her attackers?
