Trying My Hand At Greeting Cards - Your Opinion?

Besides my terrible handwriting - imagine the quote done with a printed font instead - and lack of photography skills, what do you think of this greeting card I made?

I used: image of a vintage postcard I own, glitters, colored cardstock, and colored crystals. Inside is blank.

Be honest. This is my newest endeavor, and I want to make sure other people think I'm at least halfway good before I become more serious about it.

(And remember - the handwriting instead of printing was just a temporary thing!)

Thanks,

Amy

I think it looks very good, you can see there is a lot of talent there. If you are serious about it and have all the right tools you surely can make some few bucks with this.

I am not sure about the use of glitter with the vintage picture unless you are trying to create a 'Moulin Rouge' kind of flavor.

Opinion - Cards Greeting Hand Trying

Thanks!

Well, I want to make cards that are really 'sparkly.' I really thought the vintage postcard was the unique, quirky thing I needed...The only option (I can think of) would be to scale down artwork to place instead of a postcard.

Any suggestions?

Looking at it again... I think you need to take a better photo or scan the card to show the kind of light formations that come out of the glitter, then I can better judge. However, as it is now I would use maybe two small patches rather than cluster it.

Hello Amy! I looked at your card and I think it is quite inspirational! I love the way you incorporated the glitter very tastefully! Perhaps you may wish to use a little bit of nature on your cards? For example, take a flower (rose, hibiscus) and place it in a book and leave it in there for about a week. After time has elapsed, the flower should be flat enough for you to paste onto your card! Or you can use leaves to create a border design and add glitter to this too!

That sounds like a good idea!
I really liked your card, I think the leaves would also integrate the glitter in with the photo, and enhance it.
Looks good so far though!

Personally, I think there is a bit too much on the glitter. With sparkle, sometimes less is more. Other than that, the design is lovely, and with a nice font the quote will look great. I think you are right about the art part - something to match the color quality of the rest of the card.
