Comments: When I was in high school, my friends and I were assigned a project to re-write the Declaration of Independence from another race/creed/religion's point of view. We chose Native Americans. We did research and used authentically recreated Cherokee face paint to aid in our reading of the Declaration to our class. We didn't just wear moccasins and feathers and say HOW, we actually each told a story with our face paint and tried as best as we could on a high school budget to somewhat resemble Native Americans. However, we were all white girls. I didn't feel it was insensitive, but we got quite a bit of flak for it. Deserved or not?
Its a cool idea to use paint to give yourself rank and position. The only downfall will be having to apply your 'title' or position every day, but I guess it was the equivalent of putting on a uniform.
