Oscar Pistorius has been released from prison in South Africa and placed under house arrest, Correctional Services spokesman Manelisi Wolela said.

The former Olympic athlete had been in prison since October last year, when a judge sentenced him to five years for culpable homicide in the killing of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. Ref. CNN

Judge finds Oscar Pistorius guilty of murder

A South African appeals court judge on Thursday found athlete Oscar Pistorius guilty of murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, overruling a previous manslaughter conviction. The judge said the matter will be referred to the trial court to consider an appropriate sentence. Ref. USAToday

Oscar Pistorius was back in court Tuesday where a judge granted him bail.

Judge Aubrey Ledwaba said Pistorius has proved he is not a flight risk.

Last week, South Africa's Supreme Court of Appeal overturned Pistorius' conviction of culpable homicide and found him guilty of murdering his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.

His lawyers say they will appeal that decision to the Constitutional Court and that Pistorius should be allowed to remain free on bail while they do so. The hearing before the Constitutional Court could take months. Ref. CNN

I'm glad he is not getting away with this. You can't scare someone, kill them and then walk free with a pack of lies. Justice must be served no matter how popular or rich you are!
