Comments: Over the years (since 2000) I and a Barbados based cousin have done a lot of research in St Vincent.
The registry is in the heart of Kingstown at the Court House.
I have always found them to be very helpful and pleasant to deal with (as all Vincentians are). This is not just lip service.

The research rooms are small and crowded. This was a problem in the past as it was hot, humid and steamy, but the rooms are now air conditioned and much more pleasant. They close for lunch and so one is forced to leave and find somewhere to eat or just sit and watch the world go by - not a bad idea. Gives one a chance to revise notes and plan for the afternoon if you return to the index books.

When I started in 2000, a certificate cost EC$5. It has now gone up to EC$15, but for the extra money you get a really fancy certificate.

Comments: Is it possible to search for birth and death records for the 1880's and 1890's at the courthouse?

Genealogy Grenadines and Vincent St

Name: Rchollet

Comments: In 1833/1834 Philippa and Rosabelle CHOLLET (still minor at that time) possessed slaves on Grenada. Their uncle Nelson CHOLLET, half-brother of their deceased (in 1828) father Samuel CHOLLET Jr, was their guardian accordingly to Samuel's last wills.
It seems that Nelson CHOLLET married Amelia SARLAT.
The father of Samuel Jr and Nelson was Samuel CHOLLET Sr who died in 1814 on Trinidad where he was Custom Collector. He was born in 1748 in Moudon/Switzerland and belongs to my family CHOLLET of swiss origin.

I would appreciate any information (especially regarding their descendancy) concerning all these persons.

Comments: Does somebody know who were the parents of Ann CROOKSHANK born CHOLLET ?
She possessed slaves on Grenada under her maiden name Ann CHOLLET till 1825, then under the name Ann CROOKSHANK after she got married with Arthur Chichester CROOKSHANK 1777-1830. She died in 1841.
There are some evidences that she had an illegitimate son named Samuel DORMOY before getting married.
