Did Environmentalists Kill Millions In Africa?

Briët, Olivier JT; Gawrie NL Galappaththy, Flemming Konradsen, Priyanie H Amerasinghe and Felix P Amerasinghe state in the Malaria Journal*

QUOTE

In the period from 1934-1955 there were 1.5 million cases of malaria in Sri Lanka, resulting in 80,000 deaths. After the country invested in an extensive anti-mosquito program with DDT, there were only 17 cases reported in 1963. Thereafter the program was halted, and malaria in Sri Lanka rebounded to 600,000 cases in 1968 and the first quarter of 1969.

Since the Banning of DDT (Dichloro-Diphenyl-Trichloroethane) millions of Africans have died each year due to Malaria. Did environmentalist kill these individuals because they banned DDT?

Or are the risks too high to continue to use the product because of environmental damage and Mosquito resistance to the chemicals in DDT?

Africa Millions Kill Environmentalists Did

I think they were right to stop the use of DDT as it has proven to get into the food chain and could have caused greater loss. I think a more proactive use of antibiotics would have helped more in this case.
