I think this is ridiculous. I went to a Boy's school, where cooking was not taught. I know, with hindsight that most of my friends (me included) can cook decent meals, and have a good understanding of healthy eating; these skills weren't gained in the classroom, they were gained through experience, of times when we have needed or wanted to cook. Implementing silly rules forcing schools to teach cooking will mean a lot of expenses for schools such as mine, in terms of building new classrooms, purchasing new equipment, employing new teachers etc. It will also destract time from the more important core subjects.
I don't see the girl's school being forced to teach metalwork!
This could be cool if they show you how to make the things you like:
Cooking 101
a. how to cook beef steak
b. making your own love potion
c. how to make a meal to seduce any woman
d. how to make meals that won't leaving you gasing the room
