German Conference of Bishops

Cardinal Lehmann announces his resignation

Cardinal Karl Lehmann will resign as chair of the German Conference of Bishops next month because of his life-threatening his heart disease. His successor will be elected at the spring convention of the Catholic bishops. Kardinal Lehmann was the chair of the highest-ranking body of the Catholic church in Germany for almost 21 years.
