Immigration officials may deport Mormon branch president and family
Immigrations agents arrested Felix Joaquin Callejas-Hernandez, his wife and two teenage children April 19 and they all now face deportation to their native El Salvador. Callejas served as president of the Eastridge 9th Branch in Draper until his release last week. Ref. Source 8
ICE releases reason for LDS president's deportation order
In a short statement to the media, LDS Church Spokesman Scott Trotter said:
This case reminds us all of the need to address immigration reform. As we have stated, we believe any solution should include the following three principles:
"¢The commandment to "love thy neighbor"
"¢The importance of keeping families intact
"¢The federal government's obligation to secure its border Ref. Source 3
What love has to do with respecting the laws of the land? There are millions of people trying to make it legally here and they can't. We need to change the laws but at the same time we need to respect the existent ones!

Comments: Using a fake drivers license and SSN that has been forged is a felony. Most illegal immigrants do both, adding to at least a misdemeanor for crossing the border ( a felony if it is the second time)> Do felonies preclude illegal immigrants from being baptized or hold positions in the LDS faith-apparently not. The LDS should either renounce their belief that our form of government is not divinely inspired and drop the 12th Article of Faith, or tell the illegal members to go home and enter legally.
Supreme court decision leads to call for action
"It's imperative now that Utah act," said Rep. Stephen Sandstrom, R-Orem, warning that more undocumented workers will come to the state as a result of the court's decision to uphold the 2007 Arizona law penalizing employers who hire them. "Utah is one of their states of choice," Sandstrom said. Ref. Source 2

Comments: If the LDS church wants to support what is essentially amnesty, they have two choices: 1) Make a public announcement that no longer will the 12th Article of Faith remain Mormon doctrine; or, 2) Tell all baptized illegal aliens to kindly return to their country of origin. Most illegal immigrants have not only trespassed, but have committed felonies in obtaining SSN's and Drivers Licenses.
Apparently the Mormon church accepts that many Hispanic members are still eligible for baptism while their presence is felonious. The LDS have a two-tiered membership with different standards for each.
The Church is beginning to say a lot more on Immigration with much of it a repeat of what has been said but they are hinting that illegals in the US should be given the opportunity to become legal:
