Puppies In A Park Starving

Puppies In A Park Starving

In a certain park here in Trinidad there are three little puppies starving. Their bones show, their eyes are teary and they can hardly walk.I discovered them while visiting the park, a public park, with my son. I tried to feed them with the easiest thing I could find at the time - bread. They ate it like there was no tomorrow. I realized it would not be enough so after taking my son home I got some milk and hot dogs and took it back to the park. They were so delighted, they seemed to have renewed energy. Of course the Trinis around were watching me as though I were a mad person and some of them continued to eat their food not imparting any to them - I hate this place and have lost feeling for the people, they have no empathy what so ever.

After their fill I left the puppies, maybe they will now make it through the night and someone would also give them something to eat tomorrow (1:1,000,000 chance).

Some time after I went back to the park and I saw them there still, I thought by now someone would have taken them home, but not, so I called the TTSPCA - the Humane Society of Trinidad & Tobago - they wanted me to pay for picking up the puppies. Can you believe that? Where did they get the name 'humane' from? Sounds like a profiteering business to me. They then recommended that I called the local government corporation when I told them these puppies were located in a public park.

Now, I did not want to make all these calls from the beginning because I know how silly Trinis can be over a phone, they hard to deal with in person when it requires something of effort, so trying to get them do something of charity would have been a formidable task.

I called the corporation, after speaking with several people including a supposed supervisor of the health section I realized I was reaching no where. They repeated that they had no vehicle to pick up the puppies. When I asked what they would do about it because the puppies ware still starving regardless to them not having a vehicle they asked me to call another corporation. I was pissed... I asked the illiterate fool on the phone why she did not take the information and call the 'other' corporation and see if they can help - in other words do their work rather than ask me to do it for them. They kept passing me from person to person and repeated why I do not understand. Understand what? Why don't you understand that I pay a lot of tax for you to do this... for you to at least see about Puppies In A Park Starving?

End result: there are still Puppies In A Park Starving.

And some of you here concern yourselves with Carnival and how nice T&T is because it has beaches and food and drink to fill your fat bellies, you fools, you live in darkness at high noon, it makes me sick to even to call myself a Trinidadian, I wish I could blot it out from my past, wipe it out from my birth certificate, I detest both the people for their laid back uncaring attitude towards life.

Starving Park In Puppies

JB I hear you loud and clear and echo your sentiments. Well Trinis have no regard for human life, so why should they care about animals? I am not surprised about the response from TTSPCA. The members are very rude, lazy and unhelpful. That is why we have so many stray animals around because Trinis simply do not care!

About five years ago, I remember sweeping the front porch and hearing a soft whimpering sound. Much to my amazement, I discovered that someone threw a stray puppy in my yard! Well I was delighted and the first thing I did was feed the poor animal. He had a healthy appetite. Then, I played with him for a while. When I had to do my household chores, he followed me around like my own shadow.

My spouse came home later that day and when he saw the dog, he said, "Sorry Geenie, but the answer is no. We cannot keep that puppy." He picked the puppy up, placed him in a box and we took him to a veterinary clinic called VINMER. If you wish, you may call VINMER at 628-2773 during the hours of 9am-1pm, 4pm-7pm Monday-Friday and ask for a girl called Gina. Now I am not sure if she would be able to actually go for the puppies but it would not hurt to try. VINMER clinic belongs to a group called ANIMAL WELFARE NETWORK (AWN). The members of AWN comprise of mainly veterinarians. They were formerly members of TTSPCA but due to a scandal many years ago, (TTSPCA accepted contributions from the public but a senior member attempted to appropriate all the funds from the bank), there was an exodus of many people from TTSPCA. And hence the reason why AWN was developed. The telephone number for AWN is 627-3449 however, I think you may have to leave a message. They will definitely send someone to assist you. Here is their website which clearly outlines the good work they do:

https://www.animalwelfarenetwork.org

Please provide an update on this matter since I am hoping for a happily ever after ending.

I was telling exactly that to JB.

We went back to the park yesterday with the kids. I carried some food I made for lunch and I only saw two of the puppies (maybe the other one died or someone took him?). In any case, they were all over us when they saw us, it is amazing to me how they recognized those who fed them.

As I was playing with our toddler and JB was playing with the oldest, he noticed a group of children in the park throwing stones at them. Imagine, these little puppies can hardly walk, their eyes are very teary and their skin in a horrible situation! The kids were laughing as the little dogs were trying to find shelter. We were far from where the kids were, many adults were just looking at the whole scene and did not say a word (isn't that the typical Trini attitude towards everything in life?). JB shouted at them to stop but they continued laughing and throwing stones at them. He then decided to approach them and tell them to go ahead to throw stones at him! They did not take him on, big smiles and laughs were on their faces. No sentiment, no feeling whatsoever. The future criminals and murderers in Trinidad and Tobago.

As I was watching my son playing on the slide, I saw these same kids trying to climb and some climbing on the baby swings and literally trying to destroy it. They were like monkeys with no control whatsoever. I have to literally tell my son not to play with certain kids because they may hurt him.

Those big smiles on their faces want to let you know how "smart" they think they are. The silent observants live in a state where people can be raped, robbed, tortured, kidnapped and murdered right in front of their eyes and they will have the same attitude...and who knows if they are eating a box of KFC with a friend, they may even ask for extra-pepper while continue just watching and doing nothing.

Well no wonder those poor puppies are in that condition. Not only are they literally starving to death, but they are being abused by miniature thugs!

Of course those heartless little beasts would not care about this. What does that say about their parents? Maybe this is the kind of example they were given; that is, it is alright to take full advantage of those who are weak and helpless.

Well LDS we live in an imperfect world. To the adults standing close by, they would not see anything wrong with what those kids were doing. As far as they were concerned, those kids were just having fun. And perhaps they were even thinking, "Why are those two adults getting so bent out of shape over a couple of mangy strays?"

You have a very brave husband LDS. Please be very careful because I think that the situation could have become very serious. I am surprised that they did not accept your husband's offer and shift their focus from the dogs, to him. The mere fact they were smiling, reveals that they have absolutely no remorse whatsoever for their actions. Very disturbing if you ask me! It appears as if they were taunting your husband that there was nothing he could do to stop them. Typical thug-like behaviour!

I could never understand why some children behave like this. No respect for themselves or anyone else for that matter. The swings do not belong to them, so why not have a little fun and smash everything to pieces so that no one else could enjoy the swings? Good thing you are a vigilant mother LDS, I shudder to think what they would have done next, after losing interest in destroying the swings.

I am relieved that those poor puppies have their angels (you, JB and the kids) watching over them. If they didn't, they would probably be dead by now!

Starving Park In Puppies

Let me clear up something. When I approached the boys or I should say when they saw me coming they all began to straighten up and stop stoning. One immediately defended himself (the biggest one) by saying that the others were also doing it. I told him that he should use his brains and stop hurting life to which he gave an embarrassed giggle as though I were telling a joke. My point here is what I see a lot in reply to when a Trini is held accountable - everyone is doing it. Cowards!

I also did complain with one of the adults who was just looking on asking why he did not say anything, his answer:

QUOTE (Another laidback Trini)
Dem, I respect dem, I doh tell dem nothin.

He had a look of fear on his face as though the kids were monsters (probably they were), but I did not care at the time.

The boys did not stone them anymore while I was there, BUT what is more sad is that when we left the park the puppies became unprotected. Who know what will happen to them - poor things.

I appreciate you posting the info, but these animals are located in the East and are not of any 'nice' breeds so I doubt they would make the effort. As an Englishman pointed out in another Thread, there are stray dogs everywhere!

And why didn't you take them to your home or drop them off at the regional corp?

A Friend

Puppies In Park Starving Trinidad & Tobago / Caribbean

There is alot of documentation that those who abuse and torture animals when they are kids grow up to abuse and torture humans to get their thrills after they grow bored with animals. SO you were right in saying they were the future rapist, thugs, killers in your area.
